The WHOLE Family Blog

I'd like to introduce myself and say Hello. This is my first blog entry, so Hello everyone out there in Blogger land. If it had not been for Ian we probably would have never met and his Mother Louise who was kind enough to put out an invitation for anyone in the family to share. Thank You, Ian and Louise.

Now to business, as I understand it, this is the place for family history, and I want to share.

Part 1

Yesterday we took a trip to Haigler,Ne. from there we went south to the Northwestern corner of Kansas to meet Russell Moore, who answered a lot of family history questions.

The first image is the Haigler Nebraska Cementery, looking at the West entrance. I am taking this from the grave maker of Mr. Charles Edward Cotterell. The information on his full name from Ethel (Chase) Davis's Obituary. Although the maker only says Edward Cotterell. The dates and the place match.

Just at that moment I snap the 2nd image, Cliff my husband yells out "Be careful for rattle snakes!" I look up and spy this strange long thing coming from a hole. It wasn't moving so I decided to check it out, the 3rd image in my series is what I saw, a long, large snake skin. Enough for me, I was back in the truck, quick.

More to come...

I really liked this one and I just had to share it with you all!!!

"Moral discipline is the consistent exercise of agency to choose the right because it is right, even when it is hard. It rejects the self-absorbed life in favor of developing character worthy of respect and true greatness through Christlike service (see Mark 10:42–45)."

D. Todd Christofferson, "Moral Discipline," Ensign, Nov. 2009, 105

Love

"Because love is the great commandment, it ought to be at the center of all and everything we do in our own family, in our Church callings, and in our livelihood. Love is the healing balm that repairs rifts in personal and family relationships. It is the bond that unites families, communities, and nations. Love is the power that initiates friendship, tolerance, civility, and respect. It is the source that overcomes divisiveness and hate. Love is the fire that warms our lives with unparalleled joy and divine hope. Love should be our walk and our talk."
Dieter F. Uchtdorf, "The Love of God," Ensign, Nov. 2009, 21

Perspective

“When we are no longer able to change a situation, we are challenged to change ourselves.”
―Victor Frankl

Learning

"Do not be discouraged because you cannot learn all at once; learn one thing at a time, learn it well, and treasure it up, then learn another truth and treasure that up, and in a few years you will have a great store of useful knowledge which will not only be a great blessing to yourselves and your children, but to your fellow men" (The Discourses of Wilford Woodruff, p. 269).
